random personal news

1. Bitter Half quit smoking a few days ago. since ol' Trent Reznor felt he needed a break after a two year tour, i've put a countup timer in the concert countdown slot to reflect B.H.'s success. if anyone has tips or suggestions that might help him, feel free.

2. Tangerine Dream has moved to Lubbsuck. i'm glad he's here so we can wreak havoc and mayhem everyday, but i no longer have an excuse to just pick up and go to Dallas for the weekend. it's probably for the best, though, because my stupid school schedule is going to strip me of all freedom.

3. speaking of my stupid school schedule, i had to schedule all my classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. normally, i try to spread them out because, as you know, i despise Tech with every corrupt cell of my being. this coming semester, i'll be going from 9 to 5 with no lunch or bathroom break of any sort. it's kind of like how i picture hell.

4. i'm only eating Taco Villa burritos. i think i'm turning into one. (well, maybe i just need to hit the gym.)

I quit smoking about 2 1/2 years ago, with only one cigarette and three drags during that time period.

Few things to remember. Cravings only last about 5 minutes. If you can't hold back the urge to smoke a cigarette for five minutes, you got severe issues, and don't really want to quit.

I also found motivation for me to quit. My first reason was obvious: my mom who has emphasema and was tethered to an oxygen tank, unable to work, or go out without an oxygen tank, so she could do basic things like, oh, breathe and live.

Later I discovered I had a HELL of a lot more money to spend on cool things, like cd's and movies and trips to vegas and such.

Even later, I discovered how much tastier food and beverage were. It was like tasting EVERYTHING for the first time.

thanx, Michael! he's trying the gum for now which seems to help a little. we're avoiding bars and such because even i, a non-smoker, get tempted when imbibing. i'm also leaving little notes on the bathroom mirror for him to find every morning that state little facts about the health benefits of quitting (because that's the primary reason he quit.) i hadn't thought about the money aspect because he pays for everything with cash while i just charge up a storm on plastic. i don't even know how much a pack of smokes costs these days, but i do know they are going up a dollar a pack in September which means he picked a great time to quit. i hope the taste aspect keeps him motivated. i prefer to inhale my food with no chance of tasting it, but he's a happy chef who likes flavor. we'll see. i appreciate your insight on the matter.
